Sunday School

Welcome to the new school year for Sunday School 2017-2018. School started on Sunday, September 17, 2017. We encourage all parents to register their children for this new year.

Alhamdulillah, with the blessing of Allah, MIC Sunday School is constantly growing and improving. Since its inception it has provided Islamic education to a diverse group of students. The school is committed to providing students with an excellent quality Islamic education based on Quran and Sunnah, according to Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaa; focusing on high moral and ethical values in an Islamic environment.

School Timing:
10:30 AM to 2:30 PM

Cost: $25 per month per child (this does not include price of books)

The curriculum is divided into three subject: Quran, Arabic and Islamic Studies.

There are four levels of Quran courses. The first level is taken by beginners in which students memorize Surah Al-Fatiha while adjusting their pronunciation. The second level focuses on teaching students the correct pronunciation of the Arabic alphabet and memorizing more surahs. In the third level, students memorize more short surahs and are introduced to basic tajweed. The fourth level consists of memorization of additional surahs with the application of tajweed (rules for reciting Quran) as well as reciting the Quran starting from juz Amma with correct pronunciation and application of tajweed.

There are three levels of Arabic courses. The first level focuses on the reading of Arabic letters with correct pronunciation as well as writing them. The second level focuses on connecting letters to make words. The third level focuses on reading sentences with correct pronunciation in order to be able to recite the Quran correctly.

Islamic Studies
There are five levels of Islamic Studies courses. These courses cover faith, fiqh related to obligatory knowledge, manners and behaviors towards family, community, society, and the biography of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the sahabah. From the first to the fourth level, the textbooks implemented in this course are part of the Weekend Learning Series collection. The textbook used in the fifth level is Shaykh Imadudeen's book Splendid Pearl, which focuses on Muslim's individual obligations.

We encourage all parents to enroll their children in the MIC Sunday School so they may learn about Islam and have the opportunity to socialize with other Muslim children in a Muslim environment.
